About

Background: John Palmer and Matt Mason, both Wisconsin residents, have formed Team Wisconsin to compete in Race Across America (RAAM). Team Wisconsin is the first two-person team from Wisconsin ever to enter RAAM, the world’s most grueling bike race!  Not only is this fact something that Wisconsinites can be proud of, we feel that we represent the “Average Joes” in the US.  Faith, family, and careers are our priority.  Therefore, our training is worked around our obligations.

Goal: Our goal is to complete the race before the ten day deadline. It will be a victory for us, for Wisconsin, and for Average Joes everywhere.  With over 5,000 combined miles of training since January, we have already conditioned ourselves to traverse 200 miles in one day.

Facts about RAAM:

  • A 3,047 mile race, RAAM starts June 21 in San Diego and ends July 1st in Atlantic City.
  • RAAM riders climb nearly 110,000 feet, four times the altitude of Mt. Everest.
  • An NBC special program will air featuring most of the riders in the race.
  • Team Wisconsin is one of only five teams competing in the two-person men's division.
  • Just over 100 riders in the entire event
  • We will cover approximately 400 miles every day during the race.
